A Very Original Spa is Now Open in Naples

Posted:

Children are treated like royalty at Lollipops Kids Spa located at 13040 Livingston Road, Unit 16.

In less than a year, Shannon Porter’s business dream became a reality when she opened the spa in December just in time for the holidays, according to this Naples Daily News article.

“Everything so far has been above our projections,” Porter said.

Whether the child comes in for a manicure, pedicure, facial, makeup, haircut and style, or any of the other salon treatments, they are treated like a mini celebrity.

“The first thing we do is give them a spa robe and sandals,” Porter said.

Next is a flute of pink lemonade.

“It’s a really, really nice experience and it’s very different than taking your child to get a manicure with you at other salons. It makes them feel—I don’t want to say grown up—makes them feel special,” said Andrea Roth of Naples.

Pop rocks, that sparkle and crackle, are even put into the water for a spa experience created specifically for children’s joy and amusement.

“They love that experience. They think it’s the coolest thing to have it crackling in the water,” Roth said.

A Unique Business Idea

Services are tailored to the age, which so far has ranged from 18 months to 16 years old, but Porter said the ideal age range is 3 to 10 years old.

The idea came to Porter while she was out of town with her 3-year-old and 5-year-old daughters.

“We wanted to be the first. It’s kind of a trend that’s picking up in different cities and growing fast,” said Porter, who has five employees.

The Roths and many others booked appointments as soon as they heard it was coming to town—before the spa even opened.

Lollipops Kids Spa also hosts frequent events, such as the recently sold-out Lollis and Dollys event where girls bring in their American Girl Dolls, or any doll they choose, and get dolled up to match each other, according to the Daily News article.

And on Mondays, there is a tea party and fashion show with GiGi’s Children’s Boutique from 2 to 4 p.m.

Party themes have included karaoke, cupcake decorations, tea parties, dancing and canvas painting.

Each child also gets to make their own sugar scrub to take home with them. And they also get a chocolate-covered Oreo lollipop after the spa treatments.

“It wasn’t cheap and it wasn’t cheaply done but it was really reasonably priced. They were so happy,” Roth said.

Prices depend on the number of services selected, but usually average about $35 per child for treatments, party planning, treats, drinks, creative fun and goodies to go.

Lollipops Kids Spa is open Wednesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Weekends are mostly for parties, and, appointments can be made in advance for reservations on Saturdays and Sundays.
